Call Recording Disclosure

Last updated: August 13, 2026

Calls connected through Handy Hound Pro are recorded. Both people on the call are told before the recording begins.

1. Why we record

When you ask us to connect you with a contractor, we place the call rather than handing over your phone number. Recording that call is what lets us verify what was agreed, resolve disputes about whether contact was made, and hold contractors to the response standards we promise. It is also the reason your phone number is not passed around: the connection is the product, not your contact details.

2. Florida is an all-party consent state

Under Fla. Stat. § 934.03, every party to a call must consent to it being recorded. We do not rely on you having read this page. Before any recording starts:

  • You hear a spoken notice, in English and Spanish, stating that the call may be recorded — played before the two of you are connected.
  • The contractor hears a spoken notice when they answer, and has separately agreed to recording in their contract with us.

If either notice fails to play, the call does not connect. That is a deliberate design choice, not a fallback.

3. What we do with recordings

  • Resolve disputes about whether a contractor contacted you, and whether a request was genuine
  • Measure how quickly contractors respond, which affects how we route future requests
  • Produce written transcripts, so a call can be searched rather than re-listened to

Recordings are never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared with anyone outside the contractor on the call and the staff who adjudicate disputes.

4. Sensitive information is removed from transcripts

Deposits are sometimes discussed by phone. Payment card numbers, security codes, and similar sensitive data are automatically removed from transcripts before they are stored — the redaction happens as the transcript is created, so an unredacted copy is never written down.

We recommend not reading card details aloud on any call. If you do, tell the contractor you would prefer to pay another way.

5. How long we keep them

Recordings are kept for the dispute window plus twelve months, then deleted at the source — not merely unlinked from our records. After that point a redacted transcript may remain for quality and attribution purposes.

"Keep everything forever" is the wrong answer: every recording we hold is someone's voice we are responsible for.

6. Your choices

  • Decline the call. The notice plays before the connection; hanging up means nothing is recorded.
  • Ask for a copy or for deletion. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.
  • Stop contact entirely. Use our do-not-contact form or reply STOP to any message.
